Rocky Mountain National Park’s 415 square miles encompass and protect spectacular mountain environments. Enjoy Trail Ridge Road – which crests over 12,000 feet including many overlooks to experience the sub-alpine and alpine worlds – along with over 300 miles of hiking trails, wildflowers, wildlife, starry nights, and fun times.
Moraine Park Campground (8160 ft) is located in a ponderosa pine forest above the meadows of Moraine Park on Bear Lake Road approximately two and a half miles south of the Beaver Meadows Entrance Station. In summer this campground has 244 sites; in winter there are 77 sites.

- 2014 Season - Open Thursday May 22nd through Sunday September 28th (closes at noon September 29th).
- B Loop will always be first-come first-serve.
- Note: Campground closed May 12th through May 22nd for paving. If needed, closed September 30th through October 10th for paving. Aspenglen Campground would be open during paving on a first-come first-serve basis.
- Summer Reservations are recommended.
- In winter, first-come, first-served. Loop B and loop E group sites are open.
- Camping fee $20/site/night during the reservation period and when water is on; fee after water is turned off is $14/site/night.
- Recreational vehicle and trailer length limit is 40 feet.
- Trails from the campground connect to numerous other trails.
- Access the free summer shuttle buses to Bear Lake and Estes Park from the campground.
- D Loop: no generators allowed.
- Food storage lockers are located throughout the campground.
- Solar-heated shower bag stall facility located in the campground.
- Summer flush toilets, except the B and E Loops have vault toilets year-round, and there is one vault toilet in the C Loop by the amphitheater.
- Ranger-led evening programs may be offered in summer.

Timber Creek Campground. It is the only west side campground, located along the Colorado River in the Kawuneeche Valley on U.S. Highway 34 approximately 10 miles north of Grand Lake. This campground has 98 sites.
- 2014 Season - Open Friday May 23rd through Sunday November 3rd .
- Always first-come, first-served, no reservations taken.
- Camping fee is $20/site/night when water is on; $14/site/night when water is off.
- Recreational vehicle and trailer length limit is 30 feet.
- Tent pad sizes vary by campsite.
- The mountain pine beetle outbreak resulted in the removal of most trees so there is no shade in this campground.
- Ranger-led evening programs may be offered in summer.
- Food storage lockers are located throughout the campground.
- An emergency phone is located at the ranger station.
